Senior Geo Environmental Engineer Location : Belfast Job Type: Permanent Work Model : Hybrid, approximately 50% site based and 50% office based About Our Client Our client is a leading consulting and engineering organisation delivering environmental, geoscience and sustainable infrastructure solutions across a wide range of commercial and public sector projects. Due to continued growth and new project opportunities, they are seeking a Senior Geo Environmental Engineer to join their Belfast team. About the Role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Geo Environmental professional to take a leading role across technically challenging brownfield regeneration, ground investigation, contaminated land and hydrogeological projects. The successful candidate will deliver and oversee contaminated land, ground investigation and hydrogeological work across a diverse range of sectors. The role will involve planning, managing and supervising site investigations, interpreting technical data, preparing and reviewing technical reports, liaising with clients and stakeholders, and contributing to business development. Key Responsibilities Plan, manage and supervise ground investigations, including groundwater and ground gas monitoring Manage site investigation activities and ensure appropriate health, safety and environmental standards are maintained Undertake contaminated land assessments and apply current technical guidance and development planning requirements Prepare Phase 1 desk studies and preliminary risk assessments Prepare and review Phase 2 interpretative reports Undertake qualitative and quantitative risk assessments Interpret technical and environmental data and communicate findings through clear, concise and technically robust reports Apply current standards and guidance relating to contaminated land investigation and remediation Liaise confidently with clients, stakeholders and colleagues Support business development activities and contribute to the continued growth of the team's market profile Contribute to the delivery of technically robust and science led environmental solutions Skills & Experience Required Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology or a relevant Environmental Science discipline Relevant postgraduate industry experience Sound technical knowledge of contaminated land, ground investigation and hydrogeological projects Experience planning, managing and supervising site investigations Experience undertaking contaminated land assessments and risk assessments Strong technical report writing and data interpretation skills Knowledge of current technical standards, guidance and development planning requirements Strong health, safety and environmental management awareness Excellent IT, communication and interpersonal skills Self motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Full driving licence, preferably clean Desirable Postgraduate qualification, such as a Master's degree Progress towards Chartership with CIWEM, IEMA, the Geological Society or another relevant professional body Site based accreditations such as SMSTS, SSSTS or CSCS Working Environment The role is based in Belfast and is expected to be approximately 50% site based and 50% office based, although this may vary depending on workload and project requirements. Flexible and hybrid working can be discussed where compatible with project and client requirements.
