C# / Azure Engineer - Cloud Migration & Infrastructure

Role Overview Chiri is looking for a hands-on C# / Azure Engineer to work on forward-deployed client engagements spanning existing Microsoft environments, cloud modernization, data infrastructure, and on-premise-to-Azure migration. This is not simply a cloud-native development role. You may step into an established environment running C#/.NET applications, SQL Server, Windows Server, virtualized infrastructure, and on-premise systems that need to be understood, modernized, integrated, or migrated into Azure. You will work directly with client engineering and technical leadership teams to understand existing environments, identify migration paths, build and improve applications and infrastructure, and carry those decisions through implementation. We are looking for someone with roughly 4+ years of Azure experience and 3+ years of professional C# experience who is comfortable working independently, navigating unfamiliar systems, and taking ownership of getting things done. Key Responsibilities Build, extend, and maintain production applications and services using C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core . Work across on-premise, hybrid, and Azure cloud environments . Participate in and help lead on-premise-to-Azure migration projects . Assess existing applications, servers, databases, integrations, and infrastructure to determine practical migration and modernization approaches. Design, build, and operate production environments in Microsoft Azure . Work with SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Windows Server environments. Define and manage infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure as code . Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application, infrastructure, testing, and deployment workflows. Use PowerShell to automate infrastructure, deployment, configuration, and operational tasks. Work with GitHub and/or Bitbucket for source control and development workflows. Design, build, and maintain data pipelines , ingestion processes, and transformation workflows. Integrate applications, databases, APIs, cloud services, and existing client systems. Diagnose issues across applications, databases, servers, infrastructure, networking, and deployment environments. Modernize existing systems without assuming everything should be rewritten. Document systems, architectural decisions, migration approaches, operating procedures, and technical tradeoffs so clients can operate what we build. Required Skills and Experience You are an engineer who can own an outcome rather than simply execute predefined tickets. You should bring: 4+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience . 3+ years of professional C# / .NET development experience . Hands-on experience leading or participating in on-premise-to-cloud migrations . Strong experience with SQL Server . Experience working with Microsoft Windows Server environments. Hands-on experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tooling. Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines . Experience with GitHub and/or Bitbucket . At least 1-2 years of hands-on PowerShell experience . Meaningful experience designing, building, or maintaining data pipelines . Experience operating real production applications and infrastructure in Azure. Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, authentication, authorization, secrets management, and application security. The ability to understand an unfamiliar existing environment and determine how applications, databases, servers, infrastructure, and integrations fit together. The ability to take partially defined requirements, ask the right questions, make sensible technical decisions, and move the work forward. Clear written and verbal English and the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technical leadership, and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience with VMware / vSphere . Experience operating hybrid Azure and on-premise environments . Experience modernizing established or legacy .NET applications . Experience with Azure migration tooling and workload migration. Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID . Experience with Azure networking, private networking, identity, security, monitoring, and production hardening. Experience with Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or comparable data integration technologies . Experience migrating or modernizing SQL Server workloads . Experience working with IIS or other traditional Microsoft application-hosting environments. Experience with infrastructure monitoring, backup, recovery, and operational troubleshooting. Consulting, client-facing engineering, or forward-deployed engineering experience. Experience working alongside a CTO, chief architect, or client technical leadership while retaining hands-on ownership of implementation. How You Work You are pragmatic. You are equally comfortable opening an unfamiliar C# codebase, troubleshooting a SQL Server issue, understanding how an on-premise application is deployed, working through infrastructure in Azure, or figuring out how a client can safely move an existing workload into the cloud. You think beyond code. Infrastructure, deployment, networking, security, data integrity, observability, backup, recoverability, and maintainability are all part of the system. You do not assume that every client environment is clean, modern, or cloud-native. You are comfortable working through the complexity of real production environments that have evolved over years. You do not need every detail prescribed before you begin. Give you the business objective, the existing environment, and the architectural guardrails, and you can help determine the path from there. Most importantly, you take ownership. You leave systems more understandable, more secure, more reliable, and easier for the people who inherit them to operate.
