Build the Future with AspenView Technology Partners
At AspenView, we are passionate about transforming the way organizations approach technology. We specialize in creating high-performing, nearshore IT teams to help North American clients innovate faster and more efficiently.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for exceptional people to join our team and help drive impactful change across industries.
About the Role
AspenView is hiring a technical Scrum Master to join the enterprise technology group of a large U.S. credit union, placed through the financial services advisory firm that directs its system conversions. The group was reorganized this year into three domains and single-threaded mission teams, and with only two Scrum Masters covering all of it, it is adding up to three more. The technology leader wants self-managing teams on Kanban: a clear plan, people pulling their own work, and projects landing on the date. You need to be technical enough to think ahead of the engineers, not only facilitate them.
You will join a mission team and stay with its project until it is done. The technology group moved away from overallocated pods to this model, and part of your job is making it work. Day-to-day direction comes from the advisory firm’s program director for the digital conversion, and you will work alongside the credit union’s engineers, architects, QA, and business analysts. This way of working is new to the group, so expect to fail fast, adjust, and keep the project moving.
This is a full-time, dedicated nearshore role, starting as soon as possible. You will be employed through AspenView and work as part of the advisory firm’s team on the engagement, remotely from Colombia or elsewhere in Latin America during U.S. business hours. Some of the client’s teams are on the West Coast, so some days run later to overlap with Pacific Time.
What You Will Do
Team Flow and Delivery
- Own the flow for one or more mission teams, each dedicated to a single project until completion, across platform integration, core and digital banking front ends, and ancillary systems such as payments, fraud, and imaging.
- Run Kanban the way the technology leader wants it: a visible plan, work pulled rather than assigned, WIP limits, and flow metrics the team actually uses.
Technical and Dependency Management
- Think ahead of the engineers, spotting architecture and integration dependencies between the core, the digital banking platform, and third-party services before they block the board.
Mixed-Methodology Coordination
- Make mixed methods hold together across projects running agile, waterfall, and Kanban, keeping resourcing and status coherent across all of them.
Coaching and Self-Management
- Coach teams and their managers toward self-management.
- Lead the conversation when old habits, such as overallocation or push-assigned tickets, creep back.
Stakeholder Reporting
- Provide status to the program director and technology leadership on throughput, blockers, risks, conversion milestones, and whether the date still holds, backed by evidence.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
- 4+ years (senior level) running delivery for engineering teams as a Scrum Master or delivery lead, including at least one date that slipped, and the ability to explain what you saw first, who you told, and what changed.
- An engineering background of your own: experience as a developer, QA engineer, or architect, or close enough to the code to challenge an estimate and spot a design risk.
- Coaching, not only facilitating: you have changed how a team works, explained why, and made it stick after you stopped watching.
- Running agile, waterfall, and Kanban projects side by side without losing the resourcing picture.
- English at B2 level or above, strong enough to coach a U.S. engineering team and tell its technology leadership a date is at risk without an intermediary.
Technical Expertise
- Kanban in practice: WIP limits, pull-based work, cycle time, and throughput, with teams that manage their own work instead of waiting for assignments.
Nice to Have
- Core or digital banking conversion projects at a bank or credit union (useful context, not a requirement).
- Experience with credit union or other financial services technology teams, and the regulated change control that comes with them.
- Integration-heavy programs: core platforms, digital and mobile banking (Alkami, Q2, Banno, or similar), payments, card, fraud, and document management.
- Helping an organization move from shared resource pools to dedicated, long-lived teams.
- Jira and Confluence or Azure DevOps Boards set up for flow, with ActionableAgile, Power BI, or similar for metrics.
- Hands-on engineering in .NET, Java, or TypeScript, or cloud and integration architecture.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Kanban University (KMP), PSM II, or ICAgile coaching credentials.
