Job – Staff Engineer – nineDots

Remote EU-only Staff Engineer role for a hands-on backend specialist to own systems from design to production, shape architecture, mentor engineers, and solve difficult scaling problems in a high-growth product environment. Overview This is a remote role for engineers who like building, not just talking about it. You'll be joining a team of strong engineers looking for someone who can take ownership of backend systems from design through to production. The environment is fast-moving, with most weeks being fairly normal, but with occasional periods where the team needs to pull together to get something over the line. What You'll Be Doing Take ownership of backend systems from design through to production Design APIs Work hands-on with AWS Contribute to architecture discussions Mentor other engineers Stay close to the code and help solve difficult technical problems What You'll Need to Succeed Experience building scalable backend systems Strong backend engineering experience in Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, TypeScript, or another modern language Ability to work hands-on while contributing at a wider architectural level Comfort operating in a fast-moving scale-up environment A mindset that enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and being challenged by strong peers Nice to Have Experience with B2B SaaS products Experience in product-led environments Experience in high-growth businesses Exposure to Rust and AWS Serverless What's In It for You Remote role within the EU only Salary of $190,000-$250,000 DOE Opportunity to work with a high-calibre engineering team Technology-agnostic hiring focused on engineering quality rather than box-ticking Please note: you'll need to operate through your own limited company as there is currently no EU entity.
