Senior Security Engineer

The Mission Backlight is a global media technology company dedicated to improving the entire video content lifecycle, from creation to monetization. Our suite of SaaS solutions empowers creative teams at every stage of production. As Backlight's first dedicated Senior Security Engineer, you'll architect and implement the technical security controls that safeguard our growing SaaS platforms. You will embed security deep within our engineering culture, directly impacting our ability to scale securely and maintain customer trust. Responsibilities Design and deploy security controls across AWS, Azure, and GCP, integrating them into Infrastructure as Code. Elevate our security tooling stack (e.g. CSPM, SAST/DAST, EDR) and build robust detection and response capabilities. Own vulnerability management end-to-end, driving remediation and providing expert application security guidance. Refine our identity and access management strategies. Develop and enforce company-wide security standards. Lead incident response efforts, from detection to post-mortem analysis. Requirements We're looking for someone who can build and execute, not just advise. 5+ years in security engineering or SecOps, with a strong preference for high-growth SaaS environments. Expertise in cloud security (AWS/GCP/Azure) and hands-on experience with CI/CD and modern security postures (Cloud / SaaS). Deep understanding of web application security and the ability to translate pentest findings into actionable fixes. Proficiency in IAM and end-to-end vulnerability management. Skilled in Python and JavaScript for automation, comfortable in Linux/macOS environments. Practical experience using AI/LLMs to enhance security workflows. Bonus points Experience implementing SOC2 or ISO27001 controls. Experience with Okta, Crowdstrike. Familiarity with vendor security reviews and customer questionnaires.
