Job Description Summary As a Lead Engineer – Embedded SW Development (LPB2), you will be a technical cornerstone in the development and evolution of the MarkVIe control platform. Operating within a global, cross-functional environment, you will drive the design, implementation, and optimization of firmware for state-of-the-art power generation control systems. You will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to ensure the reliability and performance of embedded software — all while embodying the GE Vernova Way through a relentless focus on safety, integrity, customer impact, and continuous learning. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Technical Leadership : Translate high-level system requirements into robust firmware architectures and low-level design specifications. Full-Cycle Development: Lead the design, coding, testing, and debugging of mission-critical system software for the MarkVIe platform. Performance Optimization: Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources to meet stringent power generation requirements. Validation & Integration: Integrate new product designs and collaborate with firmware test teams to develop, perform, and oversee formal design verification and validation (V&V) plans. Quality Assurance: Lead high-quality technical reviews, including detailed design, source code, unit test frameworks, and requirement documentation. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a primary interface between hardware design, systems engineering, and product teams. Continuous Improvement: Champion automated unit and regression testing initiatives; foster a culture of continuous improvement in both product quality and development processes. Lifecycle Management: Manage software throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from project initiation and design to release and long-term maintenance. Assessment: Evaluate and integrate third-party and open-source software components while maintaining compliance with cybersecurity standards. Qualifications/Requirements Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 5-8 years of professional experience in embedded software programming, with a demonstrated ability to perform hands-on development and complex troubleshooting on embedded targets. Technical Proficiency: Advanced C/C++ programming skills. In-depth understanding of microprocessor architectures. Hands-on experience with preemptive, multitasking Real-Time Operating Systems ( RTOS ), with a strong preference for QNX . Methodologies: Proven experience in Agile development environments and automated unit testing for C/C++. Toolsets: Proficiency in software configuration management tools, defect tracking systems, and peer-review processes. Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of working effectively in global, multi-functional teams. Desired Characteristics Domain Expertise: Direct experience with MarkVIe control systems firmware development. Protocol Knowledge: Experience working with industrial communication protocols (e.g., MODBUS, Profibus, Profinet, Foundation Fieldbus, CAN, Industrial Ethernet). Security Mindset: Knowledge of secure software design and cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems. Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading global programs and mentoring junior engineers. Versatility: Exposure to C# development for tooling or utility applications is a strong plus. Initiative: A self-starter mindset with the ability to navigate complex, cross-functional technical challenges autonomously. Additional Information Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes
